Keep your audience interested by changing up your content formats

Write

Right, I’ll keep this short.

Content marketing is about more than just blogging. To keep your audience interested and your competitors on their toes, you’ve got to change it up and deliver interesting stuff. If you don’t, your content marketing strategy might stagnate and end up on a treadmill going nowhere.

The bottom line is you need to stand out. Your consumers (the people who read and interact with your content) demand a consistent quality, which is always achievable with an article or blog post. Playing it safe with these formats will keep your content engine running, but when it comes to growing your audience and brand, you’ve got to try new things. As the proverb says, variety is the spice of life.

It’s also the spice of content marketing.

Changing content formats

You know what’s crazy? 89% of B2B marketers and 86% of B2C marketers are using content marketing to drive their brand forward. You know what’s also crazy? Most of them are getting it wrong. Yep, we went there.

You see, content marketing is a very, very fast industry and it demands you keep up with the change. What works today can fall flat tomorrow. Analytics data can jump off a cliff and engagement can plateau very quickly. The key to staying ahead is to diversify your content, focus on quality and nail down the formats that really work for you.

Oh, and good news – you don’t have to do anything crazy.

Here’s a sweet little list to get you started (I’ve also linked out to some fantastic articles so you can find out more – give them a click or tap):

1. Pillar pages
2. Email
3. Podcasts
3. Video (Produced)
5. Video (Live)
6. White papers
7. Original research
8. LinkedIn posts
9. Infographics
10. Dynamic images
11. Case studies

Remember – with all these content formats, the written word still applies. Your copy has to be fantastic. If it isn’t, you’re doing your brand a disservice. We can help with that, so get in touch. We’ve been writing other people’s content since 2012. Check out our work for yourself.
